Experimenting with materials.
In this lesson, I used different styles of materials such as chalk, crayons, oil pastels, and calligraphy ink. I chose these ones because I wanted to see how all these would work and how they would blend.
posterise Inspirational person.
For my inspirational person I chose Amy Wine House for this task I used a variety of tools on PhotoShop such as turning the image to a gray scale so I could add different colors to it which were black white pink and purples to make it more vibrant and make it more interesting to look at.
For my second inspirational person, I chose Iggy Azalea like I did with Amy Winehouse i used the same tools such as posterizing the image and turning it into a grey scale so I could add a variety of colors like light blue, lavender, light green, a light yellow and a dark peach color for the frame.

Portraits used with a grid:
On Monday 11th November, I was tasked with doing a portrait by using a scaled grid which is shown in the picture above, In the making of the portrait I used a pencil to make the grid as well as making the outline of the head and the nose mouth and eyes, After I had done this I drew a two lines to cut it into fours. In these four squares, I used different materials such as coloring in pens for the red half of the face i used a red marker with a blue whiteboard pen and a green whiteboard pen. Under that, I used watercolors to change some of the skin tones to different shades of blue and added a red type of watercolor to give the lips a red type of color. I even used coloring pencils to try and give it a skin tone next to the red marker square like a peach color orange and a purple color for the hair, Finally, I used chalk to make the last square have more dimension and more types of color into it and added blue lips to make it kind of match with the blue square.
I believe that I could have made the shape of the lips and the shape of the face look way better because if you look at it, it looks like there is not a lot of shape to it, and it looks really lopsided and uneven. So in the future, if I'm using a grid again, I can maybe start outlining a better shape for the mouth, chin, and forehead in general.
inspirational person posterize:
Selina Gomez:
Who is Selena Gomez:
for my inspirational person, I picked Selina Gomez who is an American singer and actress who has made multiple different songs. Selina is 32 and she is making different styles of music, too mention that Selina has multiple hit albums such as Stars Dance which was created in 2013 as well as Rare which was created in 2020. Selena started off her career as a child actress who starred in the children's show Barney and Friends. Selena then went on in life to become a businesswoman and musician.
Why I chose Selena Gomez:
I chose Selena Gomez as my inspirational person because I used to look up to Selina as a kid and would always listen to her music hoping one day to create music and sing in front of people. But it was only a childhood dream of mine. and I wanted to choose Selena because it could help me and give me more ideas on how I could change this and make it look different and more abstract.
What I have done so far:
What I have done so far is put the original picture into Photoshop and change the mode of the picture to grayscale and then I decided to posturize the image to make it have more of a different style and different shades of black and Gray. the posturize I used was level 5.
Tracing over my inspirational person:
On Monday 18th November I was given my chosen artist to trace over Selena Gomez i used different materials to do this such as pieces of magazine yellow, purple and pink card. The materials i used in this was yellow and pink card, white paper to stick everything on to. I also used a scalpel to cut out all my outlines and glued it on to the white card and added all the rest of card and my flowers magazine strips to put it all together.
Philippe Halsmen:
Philippe Halsmen is an American portrait photographer he was born 2nd May 1906 and died in New York city on the 25th June 1979. He was born in Riga to a Jewish couple. he had done different types of work with Salvador Dali as well as taking a mournful photograph of Albert Einstein in 1947. Not to mention he had done different collaborations with people other than Salvador Dali he had done some with Marlin Monroe Albert Einstein and many more.
Some of Halsmen's pictures:
This is a picture that Philippe Halsman had taken of the German professor Albert Einstein. it was named the iconic silver Portrait Photograph 1940's 1947.
This is a self portrait of the photographer Philippe Halsman.
This is another picture that Philippe had done of Marilyn Monroe in 1952.
This is a picture of a woman called Marta Toren, Philippe Halsmen had also taken this picture in 1949
Finally this final picture is of one of Philippe's collaborators Salvador Dali.
In total i think that my opinion of these pictures are pretty good regardless of them mostly being in black and white. Not to mention they have different styles and are unique in their own way.
Alexey Titarenko:
Titarenko is a photographer who was born on Vassilievsky Island in Leningrad in 1962, he had started taking pictures in 1971 at the age of nine, he graduated from the Leningrad Public University of Society-related Professions in 1978 with a degree in Photography. That same year, Titarenko became a member of the independent photo club and held his first solo exhibition. of a variety of his pictures he had taken.
In my opinion i think that all his pictures are based in black and white and have a unique style to them as well as different techniques to the pictures.
Inspired by Julian Opie:
On Mondays lesson i had used my inspirational person that i had created in the previous lesson to create another one but based on Julian Opie's art style. I retraced over my inspired person and added it to a piece of paper, the materials i had used was a piece of paper to add my tracing to, a piece of tracing paper and different colors such as purples yellows red blues and some green i used chalk and some markers to color it in but for the outline i had used a black marker to do the outline of the entire trace and the face.
Julian Opie:
Julian Opie is a British Artist who had created art which was pretty similar to Pop-Art. His art work would be of different stuff such as portraits and figures which had very little detail to it and would outline it with a black marker. Julian Opie was born in London 1958 and was raised in the city of Oxford. and studied at the Goldsmith's art school.
My opinion of all of Julian Opies work is that it is plan and basic with little amount of shading and blending. I like his style of work because he makes it look really easy and simple.
climate day research:
issues with climate change is that the environment is changing and that the world is suffering from different stuff the air is polluted from all of the gas and carbon that is being used, with climate change the world is being effected with flooding, heatwaves, droughts and wildfires. Not to mention that Climate change is effecting peoples health because we need oxygen, food, water and a lot more but with the rise of the worlds heat level is effecting people because the heatwaves and mass amounts of floods and droughts are effecting animals as well because animals also need water food and more to survive, and if animals don't get these recourse we wont have enough resources for food water medicines and a lot more. People campaign about climate change because they want to make a difference and they want to create a change in all of the crisis with climate change, they want to fight all of this and make the world a better place to live and to not grow up in a world full of pollution. Not to mention there are a wide variety of organizations that are involved in this such as Climate Justice Alliance, Earths justice, climate group and a lot more all these organizations are trying to help with the change of climate change.

final sketch for insperational person:
In this lesson i was tasked to create a poster or something else to do for our insperational person i picked a magazine for my sketch my insperational person is Tom Felton. In the pictures i sketched out two different rough designs for what i want to do in these pictures i added a stick figure as the insperational person and information and a title as well as price and border, Not to mention i labeled all of the stuff that is meant to be on a magazine.
Block Printing sketch:
Last week Monday 2nd December we were tasked to do some sketches for our block printing for Monday 9th December where we were going to print out these sketches that we had created so i decided to do different styles of sketches that i had found off of pintrest
Block Printing:
During our lesson on the 9th December we done repetitive printing with different colors of printing ink the materials i used was a 4 x 4 Styrofoam block and sculpting tools to carve into it such as dental tools glue spreaders and lids to carve our design. we then went to a different station in the classroom which contained all the ink and the rollers (brayers) to apply the ink to the block and place it onto a piece of paper. I had done two different designs one a jelly fish and the other hello kitty themed, for the first art design with the jelly fish i used black ink blue in and red ink and for my second design with the hello kitty i used blue in and pink paper.
Evaluation on insperational people:
who did you pick as your inspirational person and why did you
pick them?
for my insperational person I had picked Tom Felton because I grew up watching most of the movies he was in such as Harry Potter when i was a kid growing up i would put on harry potter and watch the movies back to back with out a break and that inspired me to try and do acting.
What is your final piece? (description of it) What influenced you
to do this as your final product? (Quote some research or
experimentation
My Final piece for my insperational person is a magazine of Draco Malfoy one of the characters Tom Felton had played in the franchise Harry Potter, here is a picture of my final piece that i had created in Photoshop. I was influenced to do a magazine for this character because i thought that it would look pretty cool with information about the character and how much people would spend to buy a magazine about Draco Malfoy I then decided to use the paintbrush tool to add a cloud like background to my text to make it look more readable.
Did you make a plan and follow it? Was it useful? If you didn’t
make a plan would it have helped if you did?
I made a plan to create my poster in a curtain way but i had figured out that it was a little to confusing so i did not follow the poster because it wouldn't of really helped me create the magazine.
What did you research? Was your research useful and why?
I done some research on the character Draco Malfoy for some stuff that i could add to my magazine for instance i searched up a picture of Draco in one of the movies and posterized it to make it look different and make it stand out more. I found this information useful because i was able to add it to my magazine as little quotes and a little description about his personality and who he is played by.
Were there any problems? What did you do to overcome
them?
There was not really any problems doing my Magazine besides posterizing my picture but i over came that by asking someone for a little advice and help to see if there was anything that i could change to make the magazine look better.
What went well with the product? How well did you complete
the product? What standard is it? Does it communicate your
ideas well? How/why?
What went well wit my final product is that it came out the way I wanted it to and the standard that i wanted it to be is perfect and i am very happy that i asked someone for help with advice and ideas because it really helped me out a lot
What went less well? Is it messy? Not what you wanted? Not
finished? Why do you think this happened?
I believe that I could of at least made it look a little more presentable and a little more interesting because it is pretty plain but i finished it and it became somewhat how i imagined it to become.
If you were to repeat the process again, what would you do
differently and why?
If i could repeat this over again i would change the way i designed it all and i would make the pictures stand out more and make it pop out to the person to draw them into wanting to read the magazine
