 Group scene design:

On Monday 6th January we were put into groups and tasked to create a group design we first done a mind map of two possible designs which were Horror and SI-FI Horror. my group decided to go with the horror one as it had more ideas and would of been easier to create. We first created a mind map with the two different themes which was divided  into two sections  with multiple ideas for both section, we has a sub heading for what to do to make it more horror or SIFI horror then we added how we are going to create it for the Horror theme. My group done a vote of what theme to do and the majority was Horror.  We then also put all of our ideas into a work sheet that we could use for the project.

 Set design:

 Peter pan

This set design is of the theater  show Peter pan, as you can see in the picture it seems to be that peter is flying through the window of someones bedroom which has three beds and stars that are reflecting from outside into the bedroom. This set was for the pantomime Peter Pan which was a fantastical theater show not to mention the mood and atmosphere seems suspenseful because you are unsure of what happens next, the shapes and colors are all different because there is a mix of whites purples blues and blacks. Finally the props that are on set were windows stars a massive curtain a bed and a wardrobe.

 Alice in wonderland:

This set is from the Alice in wonderland theater show which is a mix of multiple colors and different styles of props that are in the set it self, Alice in Wonderland is a fantastical movie series not to mention the mood and atmosphere is magical and interesting as well as the shapes colors and and lighting are all different which can set off different moods within the set. There are different colors such as blues reds whites purples and  pink. Finally the props in the set are mostly set around a tea party which contains of cups food chairs as well as a magical tree a gate and some mushrooms that could add more of a fantastical effect

comic Analysis:

 Story ideas:

A good story idea is where you plan out everything in a possible mind map or bullet points this is so you can structure how you want your story to be planned out and ready to animate, write or draw.

  • Theme: adventure
  • characters: charlie,Yuna,AJ,keira and shizu
  • What is happening: Charlie, yuna keira Aj and Shizu are going to visit a gravestone of their old friend but they get sucked into some different dimention where they have to try and escape.
  • Ending: eveyone besides and AJ Keira pass away.

What is a narrative:

A narrative is spoken or written work that connects to a story, movie or comic. This also can be fictional or Non-Fictional throughout the comic or whatever you are creating

 Story ideas

1. The Curse of the Peculiar Newspaper

A Horror Story
by lay

Whilst investigating the death of a local fishmonger, an adorable doctor called William Slaughterhouse uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, peculiar newspaper circulating throughout Ireland. As soon as anyone uses the newspaper, he or she has exactly 31 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day-to-day life, but when photographed, they look mirrored. A marked person feels like a wicked flamingo to touch.

William gets hold of the newspaper, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a deep bear balancing on a dull fishmonger, an old newspaper headline about a motor accident, a hooded monkey ranting about toenails and a drinking well located in a derelict place.

When William notices his fingernails have flamingo-like properties, he realises that the curse of the peculiar newspaper is true and calls in his mother, a private detective called Annabelle Thornton, to help.

Annabelle ex

amines the newspaper and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the deep bear balancing on a dull fishmonger, particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.

William and Annabelle pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded monkey. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?

2. Poke of a Ghost

A Paranormal Romance

by lay

Naomi Snozcumber suspected something was a little off when her hilarious dear tried to poke her when she was just six years old. Nevertheless, she lived a relatively normal life among other humans.

It wasn't until she bumped into the devilishly stupid ghost, Mildred Barlow, that her life finally began to make sense.

However, Mildred proved to be ruddy and seemed to have an unhealthy obsession with talking. Naomi soon learnt that Mildred had taken an oath never to licked a human being.

When Naomi's hilarious dear is injured in a motor accident, Naomi realises her own life is at risk.

Despite Mildred's sharp fangs and giant feet, Naomi finds herself falling for the ghost. Only fate will decided whether she kills or protects her.

One night, a alien appears before Naomi and warns her of a darkness within Mildred. The alien gives Naomi the ribbed razor - the only weapon that can defeat a stupid ghost.

Will Naomi find it in herself to kill the only creature who has ever made her feel truly uneasy? (Hint: yes)

3. The Weathered Newspaper

A Mystery
by lay

The hilly, English town of Exeter holds a secret.

David Godfrey has the perfect life working as a navigator in the city and eating with his witty girlfriend, Rhiannon Thomas.

However, when he finds a weathered newspaper in his cellar, he begins to realise that things are not quite as they seem in the Godfrey family.

A Halloween party leaves David with some startling questions about his past, and he sets off to urban Exeter to find some answers.

At first the people of Exeter are friendly and admirable. He is intrigued by the curiously cute author, Reginald Blacksmith. However, after he introduces him to hard video games, David slowly finds himself drawn into a web of impersonation, vandalism and perhaps, even violence.

Can David resist the charms of Reginald Blacksmith and uncover the secret of the weathered newspaper before it's too late, or will his demise become yet another Exeter legend?

group scene development

On Monday 27th January we had continued to work on our development on our group project that we have been working on we first started off doing the back ground and base prior to the modeling aspect of the work that is so we have our background and flooring ready for the models that we are creating. The design of model that i had gone with was a ghost which will be on the floor. For the base we decided to make the floor look all dirty and spooky like, we then done our walls which had a little more dirty ground and had some stars and a night sky with a massive red yellow and orange portal in the middle.

For my model work i had made a sketch of a rough outline of what my ghost would look like which would be a ghost without a head, i had then used wires to make the base that would be used to hold the newspaper to buff it out a little before adding the modroc to the newspaper. I had let that fully dry so it is ready for adding a new layer in the next lesson

 Animation:

https://studentstanmoreac.sharepoint.com/:v:/r/sites/Section_23782/Shared%20Documents/General/Lacy03.mp4?csf=1&web=1&e=6x7wrE

in my animation i had decided to create a few short scenes about how an evil girl is going on and adventure back to her evil layer that is through a portal and through one of the scenes the good twin stalks the sister for a little bit but failed to catch up to her so the evil twin managed to make it to her layer

Finishing off model:

on Monday 3rd March I was given the task to finish off my model. So i got my model and a few different colors of paint and decided to get a mix of reds blacks and a little bit of purple to brighten it up a little.

Final scene:

on Monday 10th March i had got both my background and the flooring for my scene to take pictures with I decided tp take pictures of my own on my phone and sent it to myself on teams what i done with the pictures was doing a 0.5 to get a good angle on the entire scene. We decided to prop all of our stuff in a certain order to make it look like there is a dead creature on the floor and that there is a burnt ghost being attacked by a knight with a sword.

soundscape:

soundscape 1: https://youtu.be/q9rQTB_Qr0A?si=Xs2Ac23bZlM_ji79

for my first soundscape it is giving a camping scenery i can hear birds tweeting and twigs snapping there seems to be a wide variety of different bird sounds and it seems to be set in the middle of a forest during the day time. I think that this is effective because it gives a nice nature feeling and that you are connected to nature i also think that this would be good in a movie because it is seen that you are exploring somewhere and you end up camping there. I think that the genre if this was set in a movie would be a crime style movie because of the exploring.

soundscape 2:https://youtu.be/SynzKC4fWp0?si=anl1fLT_4Y9KQ-P2

in my second soundscape it is giving an exploration theme where you are exploring a creepy forest at night and i can hear birds and someone most likely playing the flute. I believe that this is effective because it gives the relaxation feeling that you could fall asleep to it, not to mention that it gives that sense of calmness so if you're stressed then you can put it on and listen to it. In my opinion i don't think that it could be set and put into a movie because i think that people would fall asleep watching it.

soundscape 3:

Stock motion:

https://youtu.be/iaxx-63QQi8?si=4Q5X3HY2lFrhRFJ0

for my stock motion me and my group we used different dolls such as a male and female barbie doll, a spider man doll and a beetle toy for our stock motion. In my group Emama created the video because i was not in on these days. but we decided to have the beetle crawl onto the male and female barbie doll and spider man save them both from the beetle that was going to attack them.

model evaluation:

1. What is your final piece? (description of it) What influenced you to do this as your final product?

My final piece is a model of a ghost that is burnt and has no head to it and just the body, It has a large body and a small neck, I decided to make a headless burnt ghost because it gave the scene my group was doing a little bit of creepiness to it.

2. Discuss and record your ideas and opinions and how they developed (did you change the idea, why?)

My ideas and opinions for this was by doing a graveyard that had a portal that had opened up and some monsters came through and a knight had to come and defeat all the monsters which created my model to become burnt and loose its head.

3. What went well with the product? How well did you complete the product? What standard is it? Does it communicate your ideas well? How/why?

What went well with my product is it turned out the way i wanted it to and it turned out exactly how i imagined it to be. I completed the product pretty well and it took me a while to make it perfect but it turned out the way i wanted it to be. The standard for it was really good and it communicated really well with my ideas and thoughts of how i wanted it to be

4. What went less well? Is it messy? Not what you wanted? Not finished? Why do you think this happened?

what went less well with my product is that it was a messy process and the feeling of making the product was not how i expected it to be but i managed to complete it and i tried my best to make it the way i wanted it to be.

5. If you were to repeat the process again, what would you do differently and why?

If i was to repeat this process again i would most likely spend more time and effort into making the product look good and not as messy and uneven as it became.

animation evaluation:

1. What is your final piece? (description of it) What influenced you to do this as your final product?

https://studentstanmoreac.sharepoint.com/:v:/r/sites/Section_23782/Shared%20Documents/General/Lacy03.mp4?csf=1&web=1&e=6x7wrE

my final piece for my animation is how a girl goes on an adventure through a graveyard but she is secretly evil and bad, but half way through the animation there is another girl identical to the first one but she is good and kind and wants to try and stop her sister but she is not able to catch up to her twin who manages to go through a portal and ends up ruling the underworld.

2. Discuss and record your ideas and opinions and how they developed (did you change the idea, why?)

My ideas and opinions for this and how they were developed was by having ideas from my model scene work and took the portal idea from it and adapted it to have two twins who were trying to stop each other from doing something.

3. What went well with the product? How well did you complete the product? What standard is it? Does it communicate your ideas well? How/why?

what went well with my product is how i done it the way i wanted to do it and exactly the way i planned it to be but the standard was not as great as i expected it to be because i wanted it to be a bit better but it was not as how i wanted it to go completely.

4. What went less well? Is it messy? Not what you wanted? Not finished? Why do you think this happened?

what went less well was that it was not the way i wanted and it looked all rough and messy which i did not really like and how it was all over the place.

5. If you were to repeat the process again, what would you do differently and why?

if i was to repeat this all over again i would make sure that it is all smooth and has no gaps in it which was shown in most of the animation. So i would take more time on it to make it perfect.

Comic evaluation:

1. What is your final piece? (description of it) What influenced you to do this as your final product? What tools did you use?

my comic is of a girl who falls in love with this ghost that kept poking her and it is based off of a story that i had created called the poke of a ghost. what influenced me to create this as a comic is because i thought that if i made it into a comic it could  make the story look like something that you would enjoy reading

2. Discuss and record your ideas and opinions and how they developed (did you change the idea, why?)

my ideas for this comic was based on a AI written story that we were tasked to do i used an app called canva to create it and there was a few times where i changed my ideas up trying top use different pictures and different backgrounds but i then finally set with the comic i had created

3. What went well with the product? How well did you complete the product? What standard is it? Does it communicate your ideas well? How/why?

what went well with my product is that i Incorporated every detail that i needed to add to the comic such as the sound effects the pictures even text and a short summary of what the comic is about in the first picture of the comic.

4. What went less well? Is it messy? Not what you wanted? Not finished? Why do you think this happened?

what went less well is that i  could of maybe added more pictures to the comic to make it look more interesting and it was not how i properly wanted it to be as i did not really understand how to use Canva at first with the comic template and how to add the pictures to the comic.

5. If you were to repeat the process again, what would you do differently and why?

if i was to repeat this process again i would add more pictures and make it look more presentable with more sound effects and speech. and maybe even a bit more of a description about what is happening in the strip.
